Famous! FAMous!

By Mighty Aphrodite, who put me forward. Thank you!

By Mighty Aphrodite, who put me forward. Thank you!

Well, not ALL that famous, I suppose, but still….

Last year, just before I had an operation to repair an abdominal hernia (as a result, of course, of an art-nude shoot) I was offered a day’s work, filming close-up video shots for possible inclusion in the title sequence of 2010′s behind-the-scenes Pirelli Calendar video. I took the job (naturally, I was awfully flattered to be asked to basically be a body double for models a great deal more famous than me). And then shot the job 5 days after my abdominal surgery.

Ouch. I’d been told I’d have fully recovered by then, and, not having had any kind of surgery before, I believed the doctor. Which was an extremely foolish thing to do. I struggled my way through what would normally have been a very easy, comfortable shoot, and went home feeling rather disheartened, because I wasn’t sure I’d really been agile enough to be much use.

So hooray, I’m so glad to tell you that I am indeed in the title sequence. Here it is!

See if you can spot me. And then, please, acknowledge that I am now, very, VERY famous.

Thank you :)

  1. Well done, Joceline!
Having watched the video, you are clearly as good as any of the models featured…in fact, you would certainly be my first choice for a shoot in such exotic locations!
Perhaps that’s what the future holds (I can dream).

  2. Hello,

“The Pirelli Calendar is a trade calendar published by the Pirelli company’s UK subsidiary. It has become an annual publication that dates back to 1964. The calendar is famous for its limited availability because it is not sold and is only given as a corporate gift to a restricted number of important Pirelli customers and celebrity VIPs. The Pirelli Calendar is perhaps the world’s only prestigious and exclusive “girly” calendar, featuring pictures generally considered glamour photography including artistic nudes.” – Wiki

“The Pirelli Calendar is published annually, and regularly features famous actresses and fashion models. The calendar also features the work of many of the most respected fashion photographers in the world, including Herb Ritz, Richard Avedon, Mert & Marcus, Peter Lindbergh, Annie Leibovitz, and Patrick Demarchelier.” – Wiki

Well, I guess now (after reading the above) I understand why are you so excited about it.

Nevertheless, it would seem to me that (as Einstein once pointed out) some things are relative, maybe including fame and ‘success’. (From what I could have seen) I personally find you more ‘beautiful’ (however ‘beauty’ may be defined) than any of the girls featured in the video.

(If I would dare to challenge ‘authority’ on ‘both sides of the camera lens’) it would be difficult to give my personal opinion on photography in Pirelli calendars just by glancing at some Googled photos (and anyway who would care).

I am sorry to hear about your hernia problems (what ‘fine art nude’ photography is these days), but I am happy that all went well.

    Regards,

P.S. Our (rather old) car has Pirelli rear tyres (I think). ;)

  7. Ever since I completed a painting of you, you’ve been famous. Numerous visitors have asked who modelled for the painting which hangs in my hallway. Now you are very very very famous. May your star continue to ascend.
